become socially acceptable members of society. The modus operandi is through holistic development. We strive to partner with all

OUR DEMOGRAPHICS
St Theresas Children’s Home has evolved over the years from mainly providing custodial care to children, to new programs
established to meet the requirements of the national transformational welfare policy in South Africa. In order to meet the
objectives we have developed and a new innovative programmes which provide relevant, effective and efficient services to
the children, youth, families and the community that we serve in the greater Durban Area.
We provide a safe and caring home for children who are orphaned and vulnerable, exposed to various form of abuse/ neglect, behaviour challenges, disabilities, chronic illnesses and as well as children who are infected and affected by/ with HIV & AIDS.
ST Theresas accommodates children between the ages of 4 and 18 with the children being allowed to remain with us up until the age of 20 should they be completing their grade 12.
Our current demographics include 63 African children from numerous areas surrounding the Mayville, EThekwini North and South. However because reunification is key to all our programmes, most of the children and youth referred to us come from communities in and around Durban. This number constantly changes as children enter and exit according to their needs and best interests.
Over the years, our focus has shifted in line with modern best practice. Providing a safe and loving environment where kids can
thrive remain as an important part of our work. But the ultimate goal is to develop, strengthen and empower families so that
children are able to re- unite with their families or significant others, where they belong
